Although San Diego’s premier concert event is still over a month away,
buzz is rapidly building for the 25th anniversary of
Street Scene. Bolstered by headliners including
Beastie Boys and
Black Eyed Peas, Street Scene 2009 is set to rock downtown San Diego on August 28-29, a feat founder Rob Hagey has performed since 1984.
One of the nation’s longest-running concert festivals, Street Scene spreads 40 bands across five stages and two nights of live music that locals mark on their calendars well in advance. In addition to the headlining acts, the current lineup reads like a who’s who of rock, hip hop and indie rock bands, including:
-
M.I.A. -
Band of Horses -
Busta Rhymes -
Conor Oberst & The Mystic Valley Band -
Modest Mouse -
Cake -
Of Montreal -
Ted Leo & The Pharmacists -
Silversun Pickups -
Girl Talk -
Calexico -
The Faint-
Shooter Jennings -
Mastadon -
Ozomatli -
Anya Marina -
Dirty Sweet In order to cater to San Diegans young and old, Street Scene will include an all-ages celebration in downtown’s East Village and
Petco Park. New acts are being added daily and tickets are currently available
here.
